I think you should start training a puppy early to sleep in a high quality dog bed.I believe by doing so may help to prevent the development of degenerative muscular or skeletal problems. Now, there are exceptions. Some breeds will have hip and joint problems because It’s genetic. Mostly the large breeds. What’s so unique about high quality beds? Here I go! There was a time when I could sleep anywhere. Those were the days when I could go camping without an RV. You might say, I’m an old dog (corny,huh.) I sleep on a high density foam mattress and I sleep great. Any quality dog bed is better than the floor, thicker is good, according to the dogs weight. High density foam mattresses (recommended) are designed to disperse weight evenly, preventing aching, stiffness, and those torturing (ouch) pressure points.

My feet are always cold, so it must be true. They also provide a padded surface. The carpet doesn’t count as a padded surface. Just sleep on the carpet one night and you’ll know what I mean. The pressure points don’t lie. You’ll see!

Have you ever noticed how some dogs will circle a few times before they lie-down? It’s a security thing. Like many years ago when I went to bars. I was hit once by a flying object and after that I always had my back to the wall. Without circling of course. If your dog likes to sleep against a wall or corner you might want to consider a donut, AKA nest, corner style, snuggle style bed. Make sure the mattress is as thick as possible and easy to get in and be comfortable.

They should have a removable washable cover and you may want to buy an extra cover if available for the season. Warm material for winter and a cooler material for the summer months. This will keep your dog comfortable all year.
My wife and I love dogs. We have three. We have two Border collies and one Papillon, Lilly(the boss). The two BCs one male, Jakob, age 11(the working dog)and the other one, Callie, female, age 8(the princess) are having trouble getting in and out of the car and when they get up from the floor they show their pain.
I guess I always felt that dogs just belong on the floor. I never thought about whether or not they were comfortable. I know that if I were to sleep on the floor I wouldn’t be able to get up (maybe with a couple of friends and a gorilla.) Our dogs follow us around when were home, and where ever we may stop or sit, that’s where they will lay down(lie down?) I don’t know.
In our case our dogs are just getting older. This doesn’t mean that a young dog couldn’t have problems. A young dog could be overweight, recovering from surgery, or cursed with hip dysplasia. Whether you have a working dog or a family pet, they all could benefit from the excellent support that is provided by a quality dog bed.
I’m sure a lot of people think that domestic dogs have been around for thousands of years and they didn’t sleep in beds then. So why now? I can’t really answer the question. Can’t say they did or didn’t. I just know their part of my family and I want them to be comfortable.

Pet Dogs are as important as their accessory fitments are. I feel the comfort arrangements of a human being and a dog is no different and require careful attention from pet owner. Making a perfect dog bed should accompany by proper mixing of high density foam, large enough space,thick and eye catching colors.Placement of the bed also does matter for dogs to find it easy and satisfied while sleeping.After the bed is being placed owner should watch out the dog’s behavior and action with the bed to find the suitability.

orthopedic dog beds have great advantages for dogs specially those who are old and arthritic. some pet owners jutt let their pets lay on the cold floor, or with a mat, but it’s not enough to soothe their sored joints. hope every owner will realize the importance of providing a warm and cozy sleeping area for the pet

Is this accomodation okay? It not ideal, but it will do, as long as you remember dogs need more then food and water, and spend hours outside given her obedience trainning, and remember to take her out for lots of walks to meet new people-essential for socialisation purposes

As a Golden Retriever mommy, I can tell you first hand that these beds make all the difference (at least for her) She was on a supplement as well but going to bed and taking naps I knew the comfortable. She had on an orthopedic bed. She was diagnosed early with hip dysplasia and so getting the best to sleep for her was an easy decision.

Wow, reading your comments about tent camping brings back memories of when I used to take my son camping in the Scouts. It is so true that as we get older we start to notice how difficult it is to sleep on a hard surface.
I agree that dogs are the same way. Even though my dog seemed to enjoy playing out on the hard ground, especially if they’re in the dirt, it’s great to know that they have a comfortable bed to lay on at the end of the day.
