What are symptoms of hip dysplasia?
My dog has a limp whenever he gets up from laying. He also is a little slow sitting down. he is a 3-year old Rott Lab mix. He doesn’t cry or whine about it and I try to massage his hip and he doesn’t flinch. Could it just be arthritis or something?

What is the best type of bed for a dog (specifically a puggle)?
I have a 1 year old puggle that loves her beds..well maybe a little too much. Each time she gets a bed she constantly rips it up and pulls the fluff out of it when we are not home. She does this to nothing else but her beds. The weirdest thing is if you leave the fluff she ripped out alone she will not do it again but once her little area is cleaned up she rips at her bed again!! Is there any type of bed out there that may be a little harder to destroy lol or just a good bed to replace these messes.
FYI a Puggle is a pug and beagle mix…the only reason I mentioned it is so everyone knows its a smaller dog I am speaking about.

I dont want my dog to die.?
Is there any way she is going to live, or anything?
Shes a black lab, female, 42lbs, and a little over a year old.
She has parvo. We went to the vet today, and they told us all the care options but we dont have that much money. Today they gave her a free IV fluid thing, and they said that will be good for 12hrs. We bought pedialight to give to her tmro to keep her hydrated. We’ve feed her rice, we had to force her to eat it, she was keeping it down for a while, but then threw it up along with white foam. She’s just been laying around but she gets happy every now in then. Like if I talk happy to her, or if I walk into the room she’ll wag her tail, and she’ll look happy, but then lays right back down and goes back to bed. I have her a bed made up, and she’s covered and keeping warm.
But I want to know if there is anything we can do, besides praying and what we’ve been doing? she mean everything to me.
please, if you know of anything let me know.
I really dont want to put her to sleep, but if she wont keep down what we give her, or any of the fluids we give her, were going to have to.
Also, has anyones dog ever lived threw it with hospital care?
I ment WITHOUT hospital care?
we always took her everywhere, so what would i use to clean the seats in my car?

My dog has hip problems and i think it might be hip dysplasia?
My dog is a Lab and she is overweight, she can only walk a very short distance before she has to sit down. She doesnt seem to be in any pain but I read dogs rarely show that they are. What can I do to help her with her walking? Are there any over the counter medications that are safe for dogs that can treat this type of problem?

Best dog I've ever had. What is she? And which photo really shows her features best?
This is my little cuddle bug Sasha. She is a 20lb mixed breed dog.
Honestly we really could care less as to what she is but I am on bed rest and don’t have a whole lot to do.
So a breed quessing game would be fun.
I have 2 questions for you:
What kind of mix is she?
Which photo really shows her in the best light (features, personality, etc)
Personality: A real couch potato, a cuddle bug. She is very much a lap dog. But she loves to run. And I’ve never seen a dog run like her. She is very friendly with other dogs and most cats. She likes kids or all ages and is very good with the elderly. She does have a desire to chase squirrels and rabbits and seems to have a built in treeing instinct, she will tree a squirell and won’t leave it until we tell her its okay. She does have a lot of energy but she always expells it at the appropriate time, through walks and play.
Here are her photos:
(by the way does anyone see any Min Pin in her)

Is there a cure for hip dysplasia?
I now know what exactly hip displaysia is, but if a dog were to get it, what can you do to help or aid it? I’m pretty sure you don’t just let your dog keep on with his hip dysplaysia? What do you do? Do you set up surgery for your dog, and, if so, what is the procedure?

Best new dog training advice…?
My family just got a puppy from a rescue shelter. The place was actually a pet store but they also rescue dogs from the pound and put them up for adoption in their store.
So this puppy is not even four months old, but the owners of the shop take all the dogs in the place home with them every night, so he is somewhat house-trained. However, as I was getting up this morning he came into my room and got into a pee stance. I got him out of my room before he actually peed but, what are some good tips to ensure he gets fully house-trained ASAP?
We are already using the cage technique where you put the dog bed in a large cage and then let them out when they need to be let out. It’s supposed to work because dogs don’t like to pee or poop where they sleep and if you rush them outside everytime they need to go then they’ll learn outside is the place to go.
Also just training tips in general. We have another dog who’s about ten, very active and they’re both mutts.

Does anyone have a stressed dog? What did you do about it?
My almost 4 year old miniature dachshund lived in a 37 foot fifth wheel for most of her life and seemed pretty happy and easy going. Then about 6 months ago we moved into this HUGE house (almost 6,000 square feet) and she started to show signs of stress. For no particular reason, she would lick the bed sheets at night which was strange. She started throwing up white foam when ever we left for a few hours. She was eating okay and drinking, yet she seemed rather melancholy. I bought her new toys to cheer her up and spent more time with her but her issues didn’t go away. Then about two weeks ago she threw up blood and a trip to the vet was necessary. The vet said she was stressed, probably due to the extreme move into such a big house. We put her on medication to heal her stomach, started feeding her a milder diet several times a day rather than making her wait too long between meals and when she’s going to have to be alone for awhile, like a few hours, we give her Pepcid AC. The vet said that was perfectly okay.
What I want to know is if anyone out there has had a similar problem with their dog and how long it takes for them to get better. What types of things would you suggest to help in her healing process?
We are a mild easy going family so there’s no yelling or fighting around her. She is spoiled rotten and loved very much.

How does Dog die after being neutered?
My dog died 2 days ago and I’m just trying to understand what happened. My husband took him in on Monday for the procedure, I got home about 3 hours after & he was breathing heavy;my husband said when he left the Doctor, the dog was like that and they said it was completely normal. However I still had my husband call again and on Tuesday Morning they said yes it is normal;not to worry unless weak breathing or inconsistent heartbeat. We had left the dog in the garage Tuesday Morning it was a cool day and we had fans going as well, we made sure he had a bed, water, food & laid something on the ground to cvr the whole garage while we went to work. When I got home, I found him dead on his side, with blood coming from his nose. He had taken the cone off which was about 6ft frm him. We called the non-profit organization who performed the surgery, in short, we had to get another vet to perform the necropsy.Today I’m told that our dog had an allergic reaction to the anesthesia which produced an anaphylactic reaction. They found his stomach full of blood and blood foam in the tracheal/mouth areas. As I read online, I’m just confused on how a anaphylactic reaction would cause internal bleeding. I hope someone can help answer, I miss my dog soo much & I just want to know what happened.

What's the best dog shampoo to use for short-haired dogs?
I am getting a dog from the pound Friday. We are going to the pet store right after to get her a bed, food, food bowl, some toys, a new collar, and a new leash. We also want to get some shampoo. Can anyone recommend the best shampoo that you have used for your dog(s)? It’s short-haired.

Can you prevent hip dysplasia?
I have a 10 month old Boykin Spaniel. I know that they are prone to hip dysplasia. I probably shouldn’t worry about it yet. But I am just wondering whether there are any little things that I could do to prevent hip dysplasia?
I am not sure about his parents. We got him from some friends of ours, but they don’t have papers. Also I think their owner does household treatments, I am not sure if they go to the vet often. They have a lot of them because they are used for hunting.

My dog wont stop drooling!!?
This happened with in minutes. I was making my bed when I felt something wet. For a second I thought my dog (a rat terrier mix about 5 months) peed. When I saw him, his mouth was dripping with drool and bubbles (not foam) The drool is not sticky, but watery. I called my vet, she said he might have something foul in his mouth and is trying to get it out, she then told me to rinse his mouth and give him peanut butter, so I did. But it’s not stopping. I’m really worried. I don’t know what to do. I did put some flea drops on him today, could that have caused it?
Also, normally, at night, he’ll just go in his crate and sleep. He’s acting a bit strange, but nothing too big. Actually, he’s just walking around and sniffing. Thats it. But when I put him in his crate, he’s standing weird and it looks very uncomfortable. I don’t know what to do and he’s being very whiny when I put him in his crate.. Please, do you have any idea what it might be?

what is the best dog type for me?
i got a cat about 5 years ago and every time i try to cuddle up with her she gets all pissed off and runs away so i think she either hates attention or is claustrophobic and now i really want to get a small dog. i really want a Small dog because 1) i would like it to sleep with me in my bed when it gets older and i want to be able to lift it up (i don’t want a 40+ pound dog because i wouldn’t be able to lift it. when i say lift i mean because my bed is high, i have a friend who has a bed simarer to mine and her dog needs help getting up but get jump down ok, that’s what i mean.) 2) i live in an apartment and i don’t want to get a huge dog and then it wont have enough space to run around and it will be tortured (because it doesn’t have enough space) 3) i don’t want to have to pick up big craps 4) im pretty sure they live longer then larger dogs. and many more, i was just trying to show that i don’t want a little dog as an Accessories. and you might be able to tell from my whole cat situation that i want a dog that i can cuddle with alot and it will like that. whats a small dog like that?
ps i will still care for my cat i just wont make it angry by trying to hug it all the time.
thank you:)

D: Dog throws up early morning?
So here’s the deal:
-She doesn’t look sick (eyes clear, nose wet, etc.)
-She definitely doesn’t act sick (stills plays like crazy with her toys, always brings them to me to be played with, barks if she sees/hears something outside, runs outside in the grass, checks her food bowl every now and then to see if there’s anything good/special to eat, tugs on the leash on her walks, almost choking herself because she’s trying go faster/farther.
-She’s going potty both ways just fine (no diarrhea or anything that’s not normal)
-She eats fine. Never fails to come when I’m eating something, either.
But a few nights back, when it was early in the morning, about 4 o’clock, she threw up. It just looked like it’s white foam… it looked like she threw up a lot of spit.
Then she slept in my mom’s room where her cardboard house is, instead of with me on my bed, and threw up twice again-same stuff. No behavior changes all day.
Then the next night, she was fine again.
Unfortunately, on the next night, around the same time, she did it again. No behavior changes that day either.
So since everything else seemed fine, I researched some stuff up, and considered the fact that she was going to sleep with an empty stomach. We feed her dinner around six, and she goes outside a bit later to poop. Then well, I suppose that we’ve probably given her some stuff that we eat afterwards, like a bit of fruit (not too much, and only the kinds that are okay for dogs.) She’s never had any problems. So I gave her a bit of a snack, like a bit of her food before we went to bed. She was fine for about two days, then the throwing up happened just last night. Well, to be more accurate, early morning again. A chunk came up for the first time – yellow.
Today, she’s acting normal. When I let her out into the front yard where the grass is, she shot out like a little doggy bullet. She loves the grass. But then she refused to eat her own dog food. (Now I’m eating my food, and here she is.) So we fed her some rice and chicken instead. She’s had nothing against chicken before, either. She ate that.
I was wondering if maybe it was due to eating the fallen tiny persimmons outside? When she brings them in or I’m there and she’s got one, I don’t let her eat it, but sometimes, I’m pretty sure she gets to them anyway. She always eats random stuff outside! But that never really made her sick, either.
We’ve also recently switched our from Innova dog food, chicken flavor, to the red meat flavor. She’s had both before, and we’ve switched it a few times. Nothing happened, no changes in the dog.
What could be wrong with her? (Ps, she’s also had a treat yesterday that she’s never had before. A little bone thing for fresh breath.)
My dog is a poodle, and she has a feeding schedule that’s never delayed or anything. She’s one year old.
She’s eaten grass before, and nothing happened. Usually, she’s just sniffing around in the grass.

Any suggestions on what type of dog I should get?
We are thinking about getting a puppy soon, and we’re not sure what breed we should get. We know we want a mix, though.
We want a lap dog. Not small enough to fit into a purse or anything, but small enough to sit up on the couch with us or sleep between us in bed.
We have three children, the youngest being two, so it has to be good with kids. We also don’t want a worker dog. We just want a lay-around-and-relax type of dog who can snuggle, but still knows how to play.
We had a golden retriever, and she was the best dog you could ask for, but she had so many health issues and allergies that we could barely keep up with her. She died from cancer last November, and we don’t want to go through that again. However, our black lab desperately needs a playmate!
Basically, we want a generally healthy, low-maintenance, kid-friendly pooch who is loveable and snuggly!

making and selling dog beds (cushions)?
I have recently been printing my photography prints on fabric. I really liked the print and wanted to incorporate it into my bedroom, and decided to to stuff it with foam (anti flammable) and make it into a dog cushion bed.
I’ve made quite a few, in different depths – some can fit inside a crate and others more like a dog bed.
A few of my friends were really interested in them and suggested I start selling them at a local car boot – just as a hobby.
I’d really like to do this, but I don’t want to sell pet products unless I am satisfied that they are safe.
How can I do that?
I can get hold of waterproof and inflammable material, easy clean, heavy duty thread, pet friendly foam etc etc, but what else do I have to do before I can legally sell products for pets?
the beds are like this

What kind of bedding is best for an outside dog?
We have straw in the doghouse now. I heard that blankets aren’t good in the winter because they can get wet and freeze so we got the straw. Now I’m hearing straw isn’t good because of mites and other things. I’ve heard cedar chips are good, but I wouldn’t think they would be as warm. Straw is hollow so I would think it would be the warmest. What’s the best bedding to keep my dogs warm in the winter?
what about rice husks?
Wow, thanks for all the help people! You all keep telling me to put the dogs inside but nobody’s answering my question. Don’t judge, you don’t know the situation. I, too, have always believed that dogs should be inside and be a part of the family. These dogs are rescue dogs who have always lived outside, they don’t want to be in! We live in the middle of nowhere (no cars). But, just in case, we have them inside a 5 acre fence (lots of room to run). They are very happy outside and my kids and I go out with them often. Their house is south facing and the right dimensions for maximum warmth. I just need to know what bedding is best!

My dog has been throwing up…?
I have a small (4lb) chihuahua and yorkie mix. Monday morning (4am) I woke up and my dog was throwing up. It was a small amount of white foam, about 3 times in 15 minutes. She drank some water and then just went to sleep, and woke up fine. Then yesterday evening (5 pm) she threw up 3 more times. This time it was bright yellow, and yet again not a big amount. I called my vet and she said just to watch her. She laid down in her bed for about an hour afterwards (not like her) and then throughout the night she became herself again. Does anyone know what could be wrong with her? I haven’t changed her food, nothing new in home, no evidence she got into anything, nothing torn up, no chemicals around, same tap water, no new toys, treats etc. Any answers are greatly appreciated!
